My parents regularly go out to South Africa on holiday . Being retired, they are able to spend 2 or 3 months there at a time – tough life I know! However, this trip was to be different. It was my mother’s 60th birthday and unbeknown to her, my father had arranged for all three siblings, partners and the only grandchild to all come out and play a surprise visit. Mother knew that my sister and family were arriving but not the rest. When we arrived at Cape Town airport, there was a slightly embarrassing moment when we had to sneak along the far wall of the airport, pre customs, so that my mother would not see us through the glass windows in arrivals. Talk about looking suspicious! The fantastic look of shock and sheer delight on my mother’s face when she saw sell house fast not the expect three but seven of her family arriving was truly memorably.Anyway, we did not stay in Cape Town but in Hout Bay which is 10 miles south of Cape Town town. I was, I admit, slightly disappointed that we were not in the middle of town but it was a real treat staying here. A Cape Town holiday is fantastic and a must for all first time visitors but the Cape Peninsula offers holidays that are spectacular in their own right and here are my 6 top reasons why:1. we went to some amazing restaurants – not only some of the best fish and chips ever in Hout Bay itself (Fish on the Rocks) but for the birthday meal we went to Groot Constantia. Sitting next to perfect white old Dutch barns with champagne, blue skies and endless food was just incredible.
